Who We Are

Saving Sparrows is an anti-human trafficking non-profit that strives to collaborate with individuals, governments, and non-governmental leaders and organizations across the globe to help combat human trafficking

How We Got Started

Our President Charles Carpenter spearheaded the founding of Saving Sparrows after taking a 2015 trip to Athens, Greece. During this trip, he collaborated and worked alongside two anti-human trafficking nonprofits (Nea Zoi and Threads of Hope) and other Liberty University students. Our president met with victims of human trafficking, gained knowledgeable, hands-on experience, and received training in caring for human trafficking survivors.

Exposed to the harsh reality of modern-day slavery, after this trip, our president felt called to action. His journey to Greece opened his eyes to the fact that human trafficking was not just something seen in a movie or something that was only occurring in other countries. Traveling to Greece made him realize that human trafficking was happening everywhere including within the borders of the United States. After his experience in Greece, our president decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life fighting human trafficking, which led to our president and his wife, Brandi, co-founding Saving Sparrows in 2019.

We take our message of ending human trafficking into local schools, rotaries, churches, community-based organizations and by supporting other organizations that have similar missions of ending human trafficking. We provide Human Trafficking 101 and internet safety courses to anyone wanting to hear our message. As a Christian-based nonprofit, we emphasize how believers can demonstrate Christ when such horrendous crimes are occurring. We accomplish this by being the light in the darkness, just as Christ tells us to do. Our team desires that everyone to demonstrate Christlike behavior by working alongside us, as we continue in the fight of ending human trafficking.
